What hub hours are and who should use them
Hub hours refer to bookable appointment windows at our regional nodes in Gauteng, Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha, and Bloemfontein. If your team needs to drop off bulk packs, collect returns, or synchronise large handovers with us, hub hours let you work around traffic, load-shedding, and the realities of South African courier weeks. Site visits are open to businesses with a confirmed volume move or a regular dispatch slot. Casual callers or walk-ins are not served. Hub appointments suit dispatch and ops teams, regional drivers, or managers with time-sensitive goods. If you are shipping personal parcels or running an infrequent collection, standard Moves are usually simpler.
How a hub appointment works in practice
Once you send a message through our contact form with your booking request, our team will propose an available window at your preferred hub. We’ll confirm your vehicle registration, offload or pickup needs, and any limitations due to floor space or municipal restrictions. On the day, your driver arrives during the agreed slot, checks in with our hub operator, and completes the handover. In business parks, the process may include logbook entries or a quick load inspection. Most teams bring pre-labelled cartons or crates, and our hub team will help verify carton counts before signing off.
Weekly users sometimes book recurring windows. This is helpful for regular dispatches from a warehouse in Germiston, or routing multiple client collections through Durban, for example. Visit the Regional hubs page for a full list of nodes. For planning recurring runs, see our Rhythms and Lane review resources.
Preparing for your hub visit
Before you send us a message for an appointment, collect all the details that smooth your handover and avoid unnecessary waiting. Each hub has different space, drive-in access, and receiving routines depending on site layout (some have tight turns or high security). Having the right paperwork and goods ready ensures your slot runs to plan. We recommend a basic checklist below.
For teams sending returns or needing special handling, review the Returns bench and Care routes pages in advance. Special packaging or route notes may be necessary for fragile or high-value loads. If you have a new move or are setting up your first recurring drop, review the Move onboarding guidelines.

A short example: Gauteng hub bulk drop-off
A Gauteng-based electronics distributor needs to move 40 labelled cartons from their Sunnyrock warehouse to key retailers in the region. The dispatch operator asks for a Tuesday morning slot at the Germiston hub. After receiving confirmation and site-specific guidance, the team prepares the load and assigns a driver. On arrival, the driver presents consignment paperwork and records carton counts with the hub operator. Within half an hour, the goods are signed in and scheduled for onward delivery. This approach keeps both the distributor and Hello Logistics teams synchronised without missed connections or standing time.
Common pitfalls and practical advice
Last-minute requests during busy periods (especially end-of-month or during peak load-shedding events) may not be accommodated. Arriving outside your confirmed window can lead to delays or rebooking, as hubs often have tight scheduling. Inaccurate carton counts or missing paperwork slows down the process and can disrupt downstream delivery plans. Mixing personal parcels with business collections complicates routing and is discouraged.
For urgent rescheduling or escalation, contact us as early as possible. If a visit involves hazardous freight or unusually large items, mention this up front so we can check site permissions. For ongoing support, see the Support or Escalations pages. Regular communication keeps floor operations running smoothly across all our hubs.
